Plot Summary
The Journey of Shankar
Shankar, an amnesiac Aghora suffering from haphephobia (fear of touch), is banished from a secluded Ashram. The elders believe his phobia is a curse from Lord Shiva. However, a fellow ashramite named Sudama directs him to seek help from Kedar Baba, a respected Aghora last seen at Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.
Upon reaching Prayagraj, Shankar learns that Kedar Baba has passed away. However, his disciple informs him about Maalipatram, a rare bioluminescent mushroom found deep in the Himalayas. This plant blooms only once every 36 years and is said to have the power to cure his condition. With just 15 days to find it, Shankar embarks on a dangerous journey, accompanied by Dr. Jahnavi, a researcher interested in Maalipatram's healing properties.
The Story of Durga and Uma
In a remote South Indian village, Devadasi Durga is cast out due to a terminal illness. She longs to reconnect with her daughter, Uma, who resents her for abandoning her at birth. However, Uma later realizes that Durga became a Devadasi to ensure her survival during a complicated childbirth. Their bond rekindles, but tragedy strikes when Durga passes away.
Meanwhile, the village chieftain conspires to make Uma the next Devadasi, forcing her into a life of servitude. Uma tries to escape but is captured and sold to a secretive medical facility called C.A.T.
The Experiments of C.A.T
At C.A.T, a subject named CT-333 endures horrific experiments, including electroshock therapy. Dr. Bakshi, the lead scientist, plans a lobotomy, but his assistant, Tara, seeks alternative methods. CT-333 teams up with another captive to escape but is ultimately recaptured. During further torture, a system malfunction causes severe electrocution, leading to shocking consequences.
Shankar's Revelation
During his journey, Shankar experiences disturbing visions of CT-333 and Uma. A Buddhist monk suggests that these figures may be connected to his past. Shankar soon learns that Uma, CT-333, and he are the same person.
Uma was diagnosed with congenital adrenal hyperplasia, a condition that led to both male and female characteristics. After being subjected to cruel experiments at C.A.T, Uma lost her identity, becoming CT-333. The final botched experiment erased all memories, turning CT-333 into Shankar, the amnesiac Aghora.
The Final Battle
Determined to reclaim his lost self, Shankar seeks the Maalipatram. During his quest, he faces numerous challenges, including an attack from a lion. In a life-or-death moment, he consumes the Maalipatram, restoring his memories and curing his phobia. He then reunites with Jahnavi, realizing the power of human connection.
The movie ends on a profound note, symbolizing the cycle of life, identity, and redemption.
