Their inaugural project was initially titled "The Penguin & the Fisherman," with David Schurmann attached as the director and Jean Reno set to star. The film's title was later changed to "My Penguin Friend," and Adriana Barraza joined the cast as Maria in October 2022.
Filming primarily took place on the tropical beaches of Brazil, capturing the authentic environment of João and Dindim's real-life encounters. Additional scenes were shot amidst a colony of nearly a million penguins in Patagonia, providing a realistic portrayal of Dindim's natural habitat. Production concluded in February 2023, with post-production processes carried out in Madrid, Spain.
